12th may

1st post on new blog :0 i intend to take some photos of the Derwent reservoir and surrounding areas as soon as we get a bit of sunshine! which could be on the cards next week :0 fingers crossed. I managed to get a few shots today but the weather was rubbish as it was a real mixed bag today, mostly bad though :( Anyway the birds i had today were:
Osprey seen on 3 occasions fishing around derwent reservoir also perched in a tree opposite the hide, other birds from the hide today were 9 wigeon all drakes, drake goosander, 6 great crested grebes, 2 common buzzards, 2 common sandpipers and at the feeding station pheasant, chaffinch, greenfinch, coal tit, great tit, blue tit and a great spotted woodpecker.
Pow hill cp osprey was seen from here, willow warblers, cuckoo calling and seen, meadow pipits, siskins, mistle thrush and red grouse.
Blanchland moor had 2 female black grouse, displaying snipe, other breeding waders included lapwing, redshank, oystercatcher and curlew.
Slaley forest had 1 tree pipit, cuckoo calling, buzzard and mistle thrush.
Coalgate gorge yesterday produced 5 pied flycatchers, 4 were males. Here's a few photos to look at from today and yesterday.
